I carried out different medical tests that are needed pre surgery, and I have been very impressed with the healthcare system so far. Not all doctors are good, though this may be true for many countries. But if we go for top-rated hospitals in large cities, the healthcare is pretty nice. Of course there are select doctors in smaller towns and private practice who are excellent.  All that is true. Just that you exaggerated the numbers a bit too much. I've been in US for the last 23 years and I live in the East Coast. You are right, student debt is crazy here but loans are not difficult to get. If you end up being a doctor, you will make many, many times the loan amount. Doctors (especially surgeons) are very well off here.

I don't know what kind of people would go to India to get an MBBS degree under NRI quota. Do you know that there is no such thing as MBBS in the US? To be a doctor you need to have MD degree. There is no MBBS level junior degree. Given that fact, do you think they would treat that Indian degree the same way when they return here? Well, they don't. They need to write exams and pass that plus interviews plus compulsory internship to come up to par with local doctors here. You could get an MBBS under NRI quota and still drive a taxi here.

those passing medical eduction in West also needs to clear exams and interviews etc to be recognised and fit for medical practice in India..just to let you know, only 23.83% foreign educated medical graduate could clear the MCI exam in 2021 to practice here.. "To be a doctor you need to have MD degree. "Taxi" was of course a metaphor for low-end jobs and hundreds of MBBS type of people (not just from India) do those types of jobs to survive in US and Canada. Now, coming back to your example: show me one mentally sane American doctor who drives a rickshaw in India. Your joke may be good for Bengali comedy shows but quite outside the realms of reality.  why they would be driving auto here well everyone knows that India is poor not America so they will drive a taxi there instead of driving a rikshaw here and still have a MD degree so the point is that rich countries save a whole lot of money while getting the excellent treatment here and nothing else.

That's a common story in countries with socialized healthcare. It is painfully slow and unless you have something life threatening, you will get appalling care. I have experience with NHS (UK), SNS (Portugal) and good friend who lives in Canada has the same story to tell. I once had a car accident in the UK where one person died. Me and one of my friend were wounded with blood on many parts of our body. The ambulance came quickly, took us to the hospital and we were just left in the emergency room sitting on wheelchairs all wounded in between other people waiting. It was many hours before a doctor saw us. And he saw the wounds, and said they are superficial, didn't even clean them. My ribs were paining badly, he didn't even think of a fracture and just said take ibuprofen. It took me 3 weeks to be able to return back to work and months to be painfree. It was a horrible experience. Same in Portugal. I had a sudden onset of vasculitis and both my legs became extremely itchy with purple rashes and feet swole to twice the size. It took many days for a dermatologist to see me while I was getting worse and worse every single day. First day in hospital, 7 hour wait, doctor saw and referred to dermatologist. An appointment was booked after 4 days. For catastrophic illness, like cancer, organ transplant etc Indian medical system can be bad and you may have to sell your house to get treatment. But for general day to day healthcare, India is really good, even the government hospitals provide quicker service than those in the west.

Keep the price aside, even the quality of treatment is terrible. The process is extremely slow, and the competence of their practitioners is highly questionable. And i can vouch for that because I'm a doctor. The number of poor diagnosis and ridiculous over the top unnecessary treatments I've seen in patients from Australia, New Zealand and Canada is shocking
