Indian healthcare system review by Foreigner - Going in for throat surgery
Is the India's medical system any good? I found out myself over the past days, as I am going in for throat surgery due to a lump I have had for some times. I carried out different medical tests that are needed pre surgery, and I have been very impressed with the healthcare system so far. A bit of a Indian healthcare system review for this India Motorcycle Vlog - EP14 Breakdown of the medical costs so far: All blood tests (there was a lot): 1800 rupees = $23.2 USD Covid test: 300 rupees = $3.90 USD Pre anesthesia assessment: 700 rupees = $9 USD Surgery: TBD but anywhere between 30K-60K rupees = $380 to $760 USD

Infrastructure can be a little bad in India but the doctors are one of the best around the world. As a neet aspirant i know how hard it's to pass the world's one of the hardest exam to get into this profession.
Indian health care reputed hospitals ko chor kar baaki private hospitals ka bekar hai kyunki wahan doctors maximum out of India sae MBBS kar kae aate hain aur NEET qualify kiye bina doctor Bane hote Hain. Personal experience sad bol raha hun Paisa khoob saara late hain magar service bilkul third class.
private hospitals have one of the best doctors and faculty...as they all are ex govt docs there for better pay
There is a lot difference between studying for neet and studying mbbs . Neet is the one of the hardest entrance exam only but mbbs is the one of the hardest degree.
Indian hospital infra is good as i am living in canada i would want to be treated in india
Top 20 Best Hospitals in India Most Trusted & Reputed
not all private hospitals, but yeah, you're somewhat correct....
Infrastructure is secondary. Indian medical institutions does have advanced technological machines for treatment and most importantly doctors are of good quality because they treat more patients and have nore exp which is not possible in other western countries.
i go only to good hospital like amrita. now north india will also have amrita hospital in faridabad
bad infrastructure's problem is now restricted to rural areas only , as it is around the world
your an aspirant not a doctor then how can you say that it's not good here in India?? As a doctor without machines are useless Don't take it negatively but think for a few second With out machine how can any one person any kind of surgery irrespective to all the related cases ?? We don't have the best but we have those which are needed as there is a thin line between a hospital with fancy things and a hospital with only the equipements which are needed.
Indian doctors are not one of the best....I consider them as the best doctors in the world...because no doctors get such a professional experience as the Indian doctors get due to the high number of patients (high population).. MEDICAL COLLEGE AND AMRITA INSTITUTE in Kerala...!!
Not all doctors are good, though this may be true for many countries. But if we go for top-rated hospitals in large cities, the healthcare is pretty nice. Of course there are select doctors in smaller towns and private practice who are excellent. I grew up going to local clinics all my school life (later as my mom started working in a hospital, I got used to hospital healthcare).
Totally inaccurate. Indian Drs and healthcare is horrible
I completely agree with you, from all over the world we have the best doctors, our infrastructure may not be huge as its in western parts, but health care is awesome. I believe in next few years we'll lead the world in this too
its even less bt they have too coz doctors ko human body se deal krna hota hai, and different body type has different and super unique issues, so chai ki channi ki tarha strain krna necessary hai
Doctor and government is Looting poor public of india in other countries people go in government hospital and gets good treatment. But while in india government intention is making government hospital poor so people can go to private hospitals . Who belongs to political people.
I ve been living in the west for a very long time and I can say India has very good equipment in the private hospitals. Only thing is they don't spend much on the aesthetics inside the hospital.
have you ever heard about medical tourism? India is one of the top 3 destinations for this . Foreigners come here due to quality medical treatment and cost advantage
For your kind information doctors from India who had studied from AIIMS and other government medical College work there....And most of the famous cardiologist in America are from India....so better you must know information about this and then you must write your comment....
but we need to see a price comparison, India is one of the best hospitality providers with low cost... just compare prices with US, UK, EU, AU, SG.. cost difference is huge .. I think India is not bad .. only problem is our Government hospital services r trust worthy , need improvise that area lot
I heard westerners who can't afford surgeries in their country go to India as it is 4 times cheaper
Bro indian doctors are not one of the best..how many Nobel Prize india got in medicine?? I think only 1 may be zero.. Indian healthcare system is not comparable to developed nations. Bt india is doing good in this sector
So many of my friends who live in Canada,UK or Australia always fly to India to get even simple surgeries done like root canal. It still costs less including the airfare. Also, from what my friends told, RTPCR Covid tests in Europe costs around 60$ whereas in India it's around 4$
Many of the Non residential Indians (NRI) send their kids to India for Medical Education because Medical Education is cheap in India than USA where you need to take loans of millions to attend a Medical College.....
Wait!!! you are paying for RTCPR Covid test .Its actually free here in my state rajasthan in India and in maximum state In India Its free bro
not from private labs or hospitals. Only Government centres.
it's more cheaper in Ukraine.......it's almost
the half
Haha...no it does not cost millions for
medical education in the US. I live in the US. Why did you stop at such a low
amount anyway. Why not go ahead and say billions to sound more impressive?
then why do American students have such large student debts.... I have known many who pay those student debts even years after getting jobs Even CNN has a story on it on its youtube channel I dont know which part of America you live or even you live in America is doubtful
All that is true. Just that you exaggerated the numbers a bit too much. I've been in US for the last 23 years and I live in the East Coast. You are right, student debt is crazy here but loans are not difficult to get. If you end up being a doctor, you will make many, many times the loan amount. Doctors (especially surgeons) are very well off here.
Most affordable and Almost Free Cancer Treatment Hospitals in India
according to CNN average student debt in America is 650k-800k USD which is close to million Thats why we have a special NRI quota in our medical colleges here in India....
in EU, covid test is free tho. And if that costs 60$ too then the wages are 3-4$k too compares to 500$ in India lol. See the both sides of the coin
I don't know what kind of people would go to India to get an MBBS degree under NRI quota. Do you know that there is no such thing as MBBS in the US? To be a doctor you need to have MD degree. There is no MBBS level junior degree. Given that fact, do you think they would treat that Indian degree the same way when they return here? Well, they don't. They need to write exams and pass that plus interviews plus compulsory internship to come up to par with local doctors here. You could get an MBBS under NRI quota and still drive a taxi here.
okay even considering income diff if you consider medical expenses as percentage of income it's still higher. Going by the figures you shared India: 3$/500$ = 0.8% EU: 60$/3K$ = 2%
govt hospital in India is way cheaper, but also way competitive..also, Medical Education in India is better than Ukraine..
those passing medical eduction in West also needs to clear exams and interviews etc to be recognised and fit for medical practice in India..just to let you know, only 23.83% foreign educated medical graduate could clear the MCI exam in 2021 to practice here.. "To be a doctor you need to have MD degree. There is no MBBS level junior degree" In US, the equivalent of MBBS is MD..its a 4yr course right after passing High School unlike 5.5yrs of MBBS in India..the MD (3yr course after MBBS ) in India is not the same as MD in US..in US, after 4yrs of MD, student has to clear post graduate medical education to practice.. "You could get an MBBS under NRI quota and still drive a taxi here." Can understand how much you hate India but medical profession from all country have to go through the same if they does not clear the test and interview..a US doctor may have lots of degree but have to drive a rickshaw unless he/she clear the exam in India
I don't hate India at all my friend. You are literally tripping over yourself to defend something that does not need to be defended. The taxi comment is actually true. "Taxi" was of course a metaphor for low-end jobs and hundreds of MBBS type of people (not just from India) do those types of jobs to survive in US and Canada. A lot of them who don't have ego issues like you do study hard and manage to get certified here. Now, coming back to your example: show me one mentally sane American doctor who drives a rickshaw in India. Your joke may be good for Bengali comedy shows but quite outside the realms of reality. Also don't forget that the foundation for MBBS course is entirely western.
why they would be driving auto here well everyone knows that India is poor not America so they will drive a taxi there instead of driving a rikshaw here and still have a MD degree so the point is that rich countries save a whole lot of money while getting the excellent treatment here and nothing else.
India offers good value for money when it comes to medical treatments. However, for cutting edge and advanced medical treatments, there is no place in the world like the United States.
lol that's the reason people come from all over the world to India despite not having technologies I mean how illogical comment is that, my friend technologies are all over the world not only in USA but in India too so stop fantasizing such thoughts in your mind obviously we have bad medical infrastructure but it's just coz of a large population.
That's a common story in countries with socialized healthcare. It is painfully slow and unless you have something life threatening, you will get appalling care. I have experience with NHS (UK), SNS (Portugal) and good friend who lives in Canada has the same story to tell. I once had a car accident in the UK where one person died. Me and one of my friend were wounded with blood on many parts of our body. The ambulance came quickly, took us to the hospital and we were just left in the emergency room sitting on wheelchairs all wounded in between other people waiting. It was many hours before a doctor saw us. And he saw the wounds, and said they are superficial, didn't even clean them. My ribs were paining badly, he didn't even think of a fracture and just said take ibuprofen. It took me 3 weeks to be able to return back to work and months to be painfree. It was a horrible experience. Same in Portugal. I had a sudden onset of vasculitis and both my legs became extremely itchy with purple rashes and feet swole to twice the size. It took many days for a dermatologist to see me while I was getting worse and worse every single day. First day in hospital, 7 hour wait, doctor saw and referred to dermatologist. An appointment was booked after 4 days. For catastrophic illness, like cancer, organ transplant etc Indian medical system can be bad and you may have to sell your house to get treatment. But for general day to day healthcare, India is really good, even the government hospitals provide quicker service than those in the west.
Keep the price aside, even the quality of treatment is terrible. The process is extremely slow, and the competence of their practitioners is highly questionable. And i can vouch for that because I'm a doctor. The number of poor diagnosis and ridiculous over the top unnecessary treatments I've seen in patients from Australia, New Zealand and Canada is shocking

canadian free healthcare is a joke.. i know several cases of people with months to live told to wait years in queue for surgeries etc
Same happened with my wife she had a very large fibroid and because of that we had too took her to emergency couple times Even more shocking to that gynocologist took 4 months to call her nd told her they cnt operate her
i know how it works as I am working in NHS UK.If youre getting something is free ,you need to wait.just like in India AIIMS hospital you need to wait for 3 months for an elective surgery.its all same.
In Indian Govt hospital doctors n other staff they don't give a fck what you're
i can understand but dnt you thing its
too much__4 months to call back who has collapsed couple of times nd lost lot
of blood and even emergency doctor called the gynaecologist that its serious
case because she had a 10 cm fibroid__its even more shocking that gynaecologist
told her that they cnt operate her___there is difference in free and
carelessness
UK health care is better than canada__i have been in uk so i can tell the difference
U can go to ESI if he is a worker and its fast.B4 its used be slow but not now bcos they refer to private hospital if needed. But except surgeries i dont think allopathy is best for Healthcare
she works in a doctors clinic she got faster appointment ,earlier it was 3 months waiting but she got in 7 days in India medicines would have started right away ,I’m a mbbs doctor and Canadian Gps can’t even diagnose pcos ,it’s pathetic really
yeah its pathetic bro_my wife had the 10cm fibroid i her uterus nd gynaecologist told her that they cnt operate her and she needs to plan a baby so after a baby they will remove the uterus ___i cnt explain how much horrific that time for us bcoz we just got married 6 months before that__ but when she cane to india we went to DMC hospital ludhiana nd HOD of the gynaecologist department Dr Ashima taneja had no problem removing the fibroid ___we are unable to understand why canadian gynaecologist in brampton not able to do which indian doctor hv no problem doing
Brampton has issues with healthcare ,Mississauga is comparatively better ,700k people in Brampton and only one big hospital ,also I don’t understand how the doctors there get licence ,even India mbbs doctors are better than the gps over there ,I Read horror stories related to Canadian healthcare every now and then ,even Canadians go abroad for treatment ,Nhs uk is wayy better than this fraud of a healthcare system ,even Indian government system is way better May Canadian people get good healthcare coz they pay huge tax for that and deserve good treatment .I Wish you never face such misfortune ever again in your life bro .
inspite of huge contribution in canadian economy immigrants lives being ignored by canadian govt. Almost 90% immigrant community lives in Brampton
Thank you for showing India's medical system to other foreigners because they have other options to get medical treatment besides their own country and its affordable at the same time modern hospitals, very experienced doctors, friendly staff
PRIVATE HOSPITALS in major cities such as panchkula are really good. i have been to Alchemist many times and really good experience there but def very expensive in india.
Indian medical system is among the worlds best . India receives nearly 81 billion dollars as medical tourism per year . India is also called as pharmacy of world because it exports 55% of global demand medicines and its medicines are exported to more than 200 countries in this world . And yes it is cost effective as well
In private hospitals in India everything goes very fast both money and treatment. But comparatively far cheap than west and Europe
yeah bro AIIMS world class infrastructure and facilities is all free and affordable by poor
U can’t complain when u get it free. I live in canada and their health system is worst and free On the other hand India’s health system Is best and cheap.
Doctor before heart surgery in India- " It's a simple procedure. You'll be out of here in no time. " Doctor in US before an injection- " It's a fairly advanced procedure and it's going to cost you an arm and a leg."
