FAQs
How to Reach Gachibowli AIG Gachibowli
If you're traveling from Kolkata, you can directly take a train or flight to Hyderabad. However, if you're located in the Tripura state, you'll need to take a flight from Agartala to Kolkata and then change flights to reach Hyderabad.
To reach Gachibowli AIG from the Hyderabad Airport, it depends on when your flight arrives and how you plan to reach AIG. If your flight arrives in Hyderabad after 10 PM and you haven't pre-booked a hotel, it is advisable to stay at the airport for the night. You can take rest and head to AIG in the morning. We reached Hyderabad at around 12 AM. Inside the Hyderabad Airport, there is a place from where you can book a car. We were quoted ₹1450 by them, but I didn't opt for it. Instead, I booked a car through the "indrive" app (₹500). If the car comes to the departure gate of the airport, an additional charge will be levied. We booked a car a little further away and boarded it at around 12:30 AM. There are toll taxes on the roads in Hyderabad, which we had to pay 2-3 times. Finally, we reached Gachibowli's "Babukhan Lane" around 1 AM. When it was time to pay the fare, the driver insisted on ₹600. I asked him why he was charging ₹600 when the app was showing ₹500. The driver said, "Is ₹100 for the toll?" Despite repeated arguments, he didn't budge. We couldn't argue further at such a late hour. In the end, I paid him ₹600 to maintain respect and dignity. Afterward, we had to search for a hotel at night, and it was quite challenging to find a room in any hotel. Most of the hotels were occupied by rowdy people on the ground floor. It was difficult to find normal people. Ultimately, we decided to head towards AIG with the hope of finding some waiting room. The security guard at the gate didn't allow anyone inside at such a late hour despite numerous requests. Eventually, we went to the main building of AIG, where another security guard let us in after repeated pleas. However, it wasn't a pleasant experience. A high-ranking guard came from somewhere and threatened us. Despite earnest requests and pleas, he allowed us to stay in the waiting room for one night. Regardless, the waiting room was already crowded with about a hundred people sleeping on the benches. We spent the night there. In reality, such experiences teach us the most valuable lessons. We learn many things from each mistake.
Guidelines at Gachibowli AIG
When you visit AIG, you'll need to take a token by standing in line around 6 AM. After receiving the token, you'll have to register with your Aadhaar card and pay ₹100. It is highly recommended to have prior knowledge of the doctor you wish to consult. If you already know the doctor, it is beneficial. Otherwise, you won't have much information about the doctors there. You can easily visit the official website of AIG and check the experienced doctors in various departments. The doctor's visit fee at AIG is ₹400.
Doctors at Gachibowli AIG
In the majority of cases, you'll find Bengali-speaking patients at AIG. Most patients are from West Bengal, Assam, Tripura, and Bangladesh. Many guards and nurses are also Bengali. For those who can't speak Hindi, it is advisable to write down each line in Hindi on a piece of paper (using the notes app on an Android mobile) and keep it with you. It will be convenient for you. Write down your medical condition and the various issues you face sequentially. Take this paper with you to the doctor's room and show it to them after seeing the doctor.
What Not to Do
There are no medical consultations at AIG on Sundays. Therefore, if you plan to visit, avoid Sundays and choose any other day instead. Avoid involving any middlemen or brokers. Refrain from consuming oily and fast food from roadside stalls near AIG. Medical treatments require time, and it can take 3 days for some patients and up to 15 days for others. It is necessary to spend the entire day, especially for IBD patients. So, patience is crucial. Don't rush to conclusions and visit the doctor with your reports after waiting for the appropriate time.
Buying Medicines
You won't receive any discounts if you purchase medicines from within AIG. It is better to buy medicines from outside, such as Balaji Medical or similar shops, to avail discounts.
Accommodation
There are guest houses (AC/Non-AC) near AIG, including Babukhan Guest House, Ma Durga Hotel, Saibaba Hotel, Balaji, Tirupati, and Akshaya. The higher the floor, the lower the rent. We stayed on the second floor of Ma Durga Hotel. It is advisable to stay in such hotels where food facilities are available to avoid any inconvenience. Otherwise, it may affect the patient's condition.
Return Tickets
Regarding travel arrangements, it is difficult to specify the exact number of days required. You can book flight or train tickets from within AIG. Alternatively, you can purchase tickets from various hotels, cyber shops, or ticket counters outside. Based on my experience, it is best to buy tickets from within AIG to avoid additional charges imposed outside.
Language Barriers
When you visit AIG, you'll notice that approximately 60% of the patients are Bengali. Patients from West Bengal, Assam, Tripura, and Bangladesh comprise the majority. Many guards and nurses are also Bengali. If you can't speak Hindi, here's a suggestion: write each line in Hindi on a piece of paper (using the notes app on an Android mobile) and keep it with you. This will facilitate communication. Clearly write down your medical condition and various issues step by step. Take this paper to the doctor's room and show it after explaining your condition.
