What kind of hospitals will be part of this list?
Based on the qualifying criteria, both public and private hospitals are empanelled. The Hospitals are graded according to the facilities & Infrastructure available, e.g. Grade A, Grade B, Grade C and Grade R. The beneficiary has the option to choose hospitals where they want to go.

Which hospitals can the beneficiary go to get the treatment?
At the time of issuance of the card, a list of hospitals empanelled in the scheme is provided to the beneficiaries.
In case of need to go to hospital, beneficiary will have to go to one of these hospitals or such hospitals as are added to the list of empanelled hospitals subsequently.

How will the beneficiary know which hospitals they can go for treatment under Swasthya Sathi?
The list of the hospitals are provided at the time of the card issuance.
Information relating to these and other hospitals can be obtained by calling the toll free helpline number mention in the back side of the Smart Card (1800-345-5384).
Has any amount to be paid at the hospital for treatment?
Swasthya Sathi is a cashless scheme and treatment cost up to Rs 5,00,000 (Five Lakhs per annum per family) shall be paid to the Hospital from the smart card. NO PAYMENT IS TO BE MADE FOR TREATMENT UNDER SWASTHYA SATHI SCHEME by the beneficiary.
What is meant by cashless service?
Cashless service means that patient will not have to spend any amount for taking the treatment and hospitalization.
Has any expenditure to be incurred by beneficiary on the medicine?
No. For all treatment under Swasthya Sathi, cost of medicines are included in the package.
Do both OPD & IPD are provided under SWASTHYA SATHI?
OPD consultation is not covered, however if the OPD is converted IPD, all cost of treatment shall be covered under the Scheme.
What if medicines or testing facilities are not available in the hospital and these have to be awaited from somewhere else?
It is the responsibility of the hospitals to arrange for all the medicines and tests needed for the treatment. The patient can deposit the cash memo/receipt and claim the reimbursement, if they have purchased it as per the advice / instruction of the Hospital.
What if more than Rs. 200/- are spent on transport?
Payment for transport under SWASTHYA SATHI is limited to Rs. 200/- only per hospitalisation, and Rs. 2000/- in a policy year. However if the treatment is done in any Government Hospital through Swasthya Sathi card additional transport allowance is provided and beneficiary will get Rs 400/- to Rs 700/- as Transport allowance.
Will the beneficiary get transport allowance if they use their own transport?
Irrespective of the mode of transportation: Payment for transport under SWASTHYA SATHI is limited to Rs. 200/- only per hospitalization, Rs. 2000/- in a policy year for the Private Hospital.
How is the balance amount ascertained in the smart card?

What is the need for finger print verification?
Fingerprint verification is to prevent fraud and misuse of the smart card.
Whose fingerprint is needed when the beneficiary goes to hospital?
Fingerprint of any enrolled member of the family can be provided.
What are pre hospitalization and post hospitalization expenses?
Pre-hospitalisation expenses are such expenses as are incurred by the hospitals before taking a view with regards to hospitalization. Expenditure incurred by the beneficiary on tests/ medicines which lead to hospitalization are also covered for reimbursement subject to production of proof. The hospital will also provide medicines and other assistance which are needed for patient till five days after discharge from the hospital.
How will the beneficiary get those charges reimbursed?
Hospital will provide necessary medicines, tests etc. to the patient for this, and reimburse on production of bill of purchase.
What is meant by package charges? What does it provide for?
A package charge means that all the expenses related to the treatment like medicine, tests, bed charges, other materials, food etc. will be part of package and hospital will not charge anything from the patient for these.
What happens if the disease is not in the package rate? How long the beneficiary will have to wait for that?
If the disease is not in the package rate, the hospital will take consent from the insurance company / SNA by way of raising a Pre-Auth & before blocking the amount. This will be within 24 hours, depending on the type of disease.
What will happen if the smart card reader is not working in the hospital?
It will be the responsibility of the hospital and the insurance company / SNA to provide for alternative arrangements if the smart card reader is not working. The beneficiary will not be denied treatment in any case if the identity of the beneficiary is established.
Where will the beneficiary need to go once they reach a SWASTHYA SATHI empanelled hospital?
In the hospital there will be a counter for SWASTHYA SATHI to guide the beneficiary.
Does the beneficiary need to take any document to hospital other than the smart card?
The beneficiary needs to take only smart card when they go to the hospital and any other identify case issued by the Government. Also provide the correct Mobile Number to serve you better.
What will happen if the beneficiary forgets to take the smart card to the hospital for the treatment? Will he get the services?
Smart Card is essential to get the service. However, in exceptional cases hospital can allow it after appropriate verification, which SHOULD BE WITH IN 24 HOURS. Please inform the hospital that Smart Card shall be produced within 24 hours.
Is consultation and medicine covered?
If the consultation and medicine lead to hospitalization they are covered. OPD consultation is free.
Who will bear the cost of tests and medicine in case there is no hospitalisation?
If there is no hospitalization, then it has to be borne by the beneficiary.
What should a beneficiary do if hospital asks for any payment from the beneficiary in case of hospitalisation?
A patient should immediately inform the DKM / SNA through the toll free number provided in the brochure given to him at the time of enrolment. The grievance can also be raised through the Mobile App.
What is this concept of hospitalization?
Hospitalisation means admission to hospital for 24 hours or more. SWASTHYA SATHI applies to such hospitalization. However, it includes such day care treatments entailing less than 24 hours as are listed out.
