Hospitals Pull the Plug on Free Treatment in Haryana

Private hospitals across Haryana have taken a drastic step, suspending services for patients under the Ayushman Bharat and Chirayu Haryana schemes. The move comes in response to the state government’s alleged failure to clear pending dues worth over ?200 crore.

The Indian Medical Association (IMA) claims that nearly 600 hospitals are impacted by the decision. These facilities have been bearing the brunt of providing free healthcare under the central and state government schemes without timely reimbursement.

With millions of beneficiaries covered under Ayushman Bharat and Chirayu Haryana, the suspension of services has caused significant distress. The schemes promise free healthcare up to ?5 lakh per family, covering a wide range of treatments. However, the delay in payments has pushed hospitals to the brink.

The standoff between private hospitals and the government highlights the financial challenges faced by healthcare providers and the potential impact on patient care. Unless the payment issue is resolved swiftly, patients are likely to face difficulties accessing essential medical services.
